Learn to Take Charge of Your House

We’re not all blessed with gargantuan bedrooms, with sky high ceilings and big, breezy windows. Although having a small bedroom isn’t the worst thing in the world, it can be a pain when your room constantly looks like it’s been hit by a bomb, because everything just takes up so much space.
Making the most of a small bedroom can be harder than it first appears but there are ways that you can make the most of your space and keep everything out of sight. Storage solutions are the way to go; make the most of what small space you might have, whether it’s under your bed or in the wardrobe.
If you’re bedroom really is tiny and you have the opportunity to buy some new furniture, then it is well worth considering a divan bed, as these have inbuilt drawers in the base of the bed. There are also some divan beds that come with ottoman storage, which means you can press a trigger and the mattress and slats will lift up, giving you access to the space underneath your mattress. This can be helpful for storing bedding, towels, your bulky winter jumpers and coats and any other large items that just seem to get in the way all the time.
You could also opt for a traditional bedstead that has space underneath for storage boxes. This can be helpful for items that you need quite often, such as shoes for example, but that you don’t want to be tripping over all the time. Try going for storage boxes with wheels so your items are easily accessible.
For your wardrobe, try investing in some storage solutions that will help you organise your clothes. Not got a chest of drawers? No problem, why not try some hanging canvas shelves – perfect for storing your socks and vest tops. You can also get hanging shoe racks which are perfect for tidying up all your shoes and boots. You can also use the bottom of your wardrobe to store boxes but remember to keep it organised – don’t just throw anything in there. If you have shoe boxes, boxes of DVDs or anything that you are unlikely to need very often, you can also pop these on top of your wardrobe, which is an a space that is often forgotten about. For space saving small cheap leather beds visit our friends at dreams who stock a great range of new beds and mattresses all at great prices.

The idea of seeking professional advice is usually followed soon after by a groan because people expect it to cost them. In their minds they often even anticipate it will cost them dearly. Such anxiety, and woe can be unnecessary, as there are services that are offered through many larger, chain companies involved in home improvement. Hence the thought of getting help, and frequently expert advice for nothing out of pocket should put minds at ease. It is just a matter of identifying those businesses that offer these consultations and making an appointment. Of course the knowledge that you are not paying for this instruction should in no way cause you to fail in your preparation for such an important consult. You absolutely should arrive promptly with as much material to provide the company representative in order for them to guide appropriately. Bring photos, drawings, dimensions, colour swatches, and anything else that you can carry that could give the person you meet with a complete picture of what the environment is like. This way you help them help you.

Textural interest can take a room from being flat to fabulous, and it is easy to add into any space. You can do so with your selection of not only accessories such as pillows and decorative baskets, but also on walls, and floors. Smooth curves of a table top, rough edges of table mats, or the shiny sheen of a stainless steel fireplace utensil holder all do the job nicely.
Natural elements like seashells or smooth stones placed in vases, or wooden masks from tribal groups give just the right feel. To make a space feel cosy through the use of texture try overlaying rugs on top of carpets and place nubby fabric covered pillows strewn across seating areas. And if you are looking to build a fireplace, or cover an outdated looking one use gorgeous brick to make it warm and appealing.

Some people keep their bath towel collection concealed, while others put them out in full view. Here are a selection of ways that designers recommend storing, or displaying towels that gives them a visual boost. Similar to the way many spas keep their towel supplies you can roll and stack them. Or, if you do not have walls or shelves holding the group together, fold them with precision and tie lovely ribbons around sets of them. The alternative to this is to take the well folded towels and place them into beautiful baskets. If you are looking for an alternative to hanging a hand towel rack, roll the small towels and put them in a low sided square glass vase near the basin. All of these ideas will match any style, and will look great.

There are great finds in the carpet world to be had if you are persistent. All to often, flooring stores end up with remnants from completed and uncompleted jobs. While you may not find enough carpet amongst the remnants to cover your floors from wall to wall, it is quite possible that you will find great sections that can be made into area rugs. The store will more than likely be happy to cut it down to the size you want, and you could find the best deal going. It is definitely worth a look, and at the very least you will be able to see what other people are buying.
